A construction manager acts as a bridge between the owner and the contractor, architect etc. and shoulders the responsibility of coordinating with various authorities, supervising the construction activity in order to finish the construction work on time and in a cost effective manner.
An agreement between owner and construction manager should consist of clauses such as roles and responsibilities of the construction manager vis-à-vis the contractor, architect etc., the timeline in which the work is to be completed, and the remuneration of the construction manager, the reporting and tracking mechanism for the manager and the rights of the owner as well as the construction manager. A successful construction manager is a professional who excels in coordinating and getting work out of people and is able to complete the allotted assignment in given time with minimum commercial outlay.
